At the Intersection

with Elie Hausman

December 2, 7:40-8:30 PM

Meet Elie Hausman, Keshet’s NYC Youth Engagement Intern, will discuss their intersecting queer and Jewish identities as a college student. They’ll speak from their own experiences as a student and share some of the resources they’ve looked towards as someone who lives at the intersection of queer, trans, and Jewish identities. Keshet is a national organization that works for the full inclusion and equality of LGBTQ+ Jews in Jewish life.

Parents are welcome to attend.

Bio:

Elie Hausman (they/them) is Keshet’s NYC Youth Engagement Intern and a junior in the Double Degree program between The Jewish Theological Seminary of America and Barnard College, studying Religion and Talmud respectively. They are a passionate cellist and Klezmer musician, an occasionally-proud Minnesotan, and a Pad Thai fanatic. Previously, they worked on LGBTQ+ inclusion, equity, and advocacy work in their time at USY, Columbia/Barnard Hillel, and Brandeis Precollege Programs. In the past few months in their role at Keshet, Elie has created resources for transgender college students and led a discussion on the intersections of trans identity and Jewish theology; they are so excited to continue working with and for trans and queer youth.

2025 Teen Taste of Israel greetings from Jerusalem, February 2025

The Epstein School is the gathering place for CNY’s Jewish teens.

For over 50 years, the Rabbi Jacob H. Epstein School of Jewish Studies has been the gathering space for Jewish teens in Central New York, the place to make lifelong friends, for Torah lishma (learning for the sake of learning), and for learning how to make Jewish choices in an increasingly pluralistic world. It is the place where teens from different backgrounds and Jewish traditions have come together to learn, share, and build a community. Join us for a new year, with new classes, new volunteer opportunities, and new Hillel campus visits!

The Epstein School is open to any student in grades 8-12 seeking a supplementary Jewish High School education.

Classes begin Tuesday, September 9th!

Join us for new Fall courses, new electives, new volunteer opportunities and new Hillel campus visits!
