SUPA: Hebrew 101

Earn 4 college credits @ Epstein!

This year, students in grades 10-12 at Epstein can earn 4 college credits by taking Hebrew 101. In this class you will

  • learn to read without vowels

  • learn to write in script (cursive)

  • be able to count to 100 and do simple math in Hebrew

  • conjugate present tense verbs

  • learn how to ask and answer questions about yourself in social situations, handle basic life situations, and describe your needs and wishes

  • learn common slang

FAQs

  • This 4-credit SUPA course costs $460. This is in addition to Epstein tuition of $500. Financial aid is available, and all textbooks and materials are included in the tuition.

  • Each week at Epstein, you will take Hebrew 101 for both class periods. You will still be able to have snack with your friends, as well. Each week, there will be some homework, but this is a semester-long class spread out over the full year. Many Thursdays during the year, you will meet in person as a class.

    The time commitment weekly:

    2 class hours at Epstein each week
    Homework
    PLUS, 3 other meetings per month on Thursday evenings

  • It’s a fantastic opportunity! Not only can you meet part of your college foreign language requirement, but your Hebrew knowledge will increase. The skills you will learn in this class will come in handy when you travel to Israel on a gap year program, or on Birthright.

  • Ohad Shem Tov, PhD, who is a native Hebrew speaker and fluent in English, is excited to be teaching the course this year.
